Your primary objective will be to ensure the provision of the highest quality ingredients at the most competitive prices, aligning with the plant's production needs in an ever-changing environment. In addition, you will execute purchasing decisions and initiate new ideas to provide lower cost through improved logistics, supplier partnerships and energy procurement.Primary ResponsibilitiesManage rail demurrage, truck detention, and truck premiums related to ingredient transportationHandle emergency substitutions to maintain uninterrupted productionMaintain open communication with Corporate Strategic Buyers to align inventory strategiesAnalyze ingredient positions, provide advice, and execute necessary actionsAnalyze inbound ingredient freight costs and evaluate mode of transportation for cost optimizationProvide proper training and cross-functional training to the Materials Department and other departments as neededEvaluate the performance of department personnel and provide constructive feedbackRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED5-7 years
