UPMC is hiring a full-time Physical Therapist to support our outpatient pediatric rehab center services at our 625 West Edwin Street, Williamsport, PA location. The typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with no weekends or holidays required.

The Staff Physical Therapist is responsible for reviewing patient charts, performing initial assessments, developing treatment plans, administering physical therapy treatments and modalities, monitoring progress, and documenting treatments performed with patients. This includes discharge planning and patient education to increase overall functioning, reduce discomfort, enhance flexibility, and achieve other medical and therapeutic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate patient status to the referring physician and other healthcare team members.

  • \n
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students, residents, and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.

  • \n
  • Maintain professional licensure/registration through continuous participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy licensure/registration renewal requirements.

  • \n
  • Perform physical therapy assessments, reassessments, and treatments, and supervise physical therapist assistants in treating pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician.

  • \n
  • Develop a plan of care, including goals and treatment plans, in accordance with physician referrals, the nature of the injury/illness, and the results of physical therapy assessments. Modify or adjust the plan of care based on the patient’s response to treatment and/or changes in the patient’s status. Collaborate with PTAs to adjust patient programs as patient status changes.

  • Rotate through selected treatment areas as necessary to meet organizational needs.

  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs.

  • \n
  • Maintain written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered, including initial assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries, consistent with department standards. Co-sign physical therapist assistant documentation biweekly.

  • Complete necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect the services rendered to the patient.

  • \n
  • Provide verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members when applicable.

  • \n
  • Schedule patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.

Educational/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must possess the ability to identify referral growth opportunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the healthcare team, coworkers, supervisors, and all members of the Corporate Management Team.

  • Active participation in healthcare industry professional organizations is preferred.

  • \n
  • May be in rooms where medications are stored during the course of job duties. No contact with medications is allowed.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Active license in the practicing state is required.

  • \n
  • CPR certification is required based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 33 with renewal
